Big old warehouse finds new life with plants, coffee and events!
A new hybrid plant shop, coffee shop and event space all wrapped into one called The Heavy is coming to Winter Park at 1152 Harmon Ave inside the huge former Lombardi's Seafood warehouse and processing plant.
August 1st is the expected opening date.
The Heavy will offer plants and plant event services, coffee from Credo Coffee, and several large rooms perfect for special event rentals.
The Heavy is a partnership between Credo Coffee and Porch Therapy. Credo Coffee operates several non-profit community-focused initiatives, but is best known for its coffee shops in College Park, the North Quarter and elsewhere. Porch Therapy creates plant and flower designs for large events as well as operates a retail storefront inside the East End Market.
The two businesses are subleasing the space from the leaseholders we introduced you to May 2017: a married couple who had had similar plans for the space back then. They were planning a home mercantile store with a full coffee shop inside. Garden decor and staples, interior design services, fresh vegetables, paint and painting supplies would all be offered.
That plan didn't come to fruition. They contacted Credo Coffee and Porch Therapy and the two businesses came together to come up with the current retail and events plan for the gigantic space.
