District Five Tentative Five-Year Work Program Public Hearing

Learn about the next five years worth of FDOT projects!


From Monday, Oct. 21 through Friday, Oct. 25 the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will hold a week-long virtual public hearing on its Tentative Five-Year Work Program for Fiscal Years 2020/2021 through 2024/2025. This is an opportunity to learn about proposed projects in the upcoming five years and provide input to FDOT. The online public hearing will be available 24 hours a day at www.D5WPPH.com. On the website, informational material will be available for viewing, along with opportunities to provide comments.


The Tentative Five-Year Work Program provides direction on where and when to build transportation system improvements, and is used to forecast funds needed for improvements across all modes of transportation including: Roadway, Bicycle, Freight, Seaports, Enhancement Projects (Trails and Sidewalks), Multimodal Transit (Passenger Operations), Pedestrian, Aviation, and Space. 


The purpose of the public hearing is to present the Tentative Five-Year Work Program, seek public input, and provide interested persons the opportunity to express their views on the information. The Tentative Five-Year Work Program provides proposed improvements for Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise, as well as the nine counties that form District Five: Brevard, Flagler, Lake, Marion, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Sumter, and Volusia.


Several options for providing comments will be available during the online hearing. Written comments from all interested parties will also be accepted by the FDOT for a period of ten (10) days after the proceedings, ending Monday, November 4, 2019. Comments should be addressed to: Secretary Michael Shannon, P.E., Florida Department of Transportation, 719 South Woodland Boulevard, DeLand, Florida 32720. All comments received or postmarked by Nov. 4 will become part of the public record.


There is also a public information outreach meeting scheduled on Thursday, Oct. 24 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. where staff will be available in-person to answer questions. It will be held at the FDOT District Five Office - Cypress A & B Conference Rooms located at, 719 South Woodland Blvd., DeLand, FL 32720.
