Almost $400,000 Worth of Tasers Coming to Orlando Police Department

The purchase of 150 new tasers for $399,600.00 by the Orlando Police Department is part of the Consent Agenda for the June 3rd Orlando City Council meeting. The new tasers will be given to new officers and used as spare units. The purchase will be made from Axon Enterprise, Inc., of Scottsdale, Arizona, the manufacturer and sole authorized distributor of the Taser Model X2.


The City is utilizing the Taser 60 Unlimited Plan that will allow payments over a sixty (60) month period. The plan includes warranty, a holster, three (3) training cartridges per year, unlimited batteries and unlimited duty cartridges for each unit. The total cost of this purchase over the sixty (60) months is $399,600.00. The payment for the first year is $93,600.00, followed by a four (4) annual payments of $76,500.00.


On January 8, 2018, City Council most recently approved standardization of conducted electrical weapons with Taser.  This purchase will continue the approved standardization of conducted electrical weapons with Taser Model X2.


The consent agenda is a list of items acted upon by the City Council through a single vote. An item can be considered separately by decision of the Mayor or majority vote of City Council.
